Week 5 Wrap Up
Hello again!
Top cyclists were:
In addition to logging major miles, a few people took it above and beyond and IMPROVED on their mileage totals from last week too!
It's been another motivating and inspiring week watching you guys log those miles!
We added 6 new members this week, which is definitely our smallest increase yet but still just about a new member a day! Welcome!
We've now got 69 team members - just 31 shy of our 100 person recruitment goal! If you know anyone who might be interested in joining, feel free to be a rockstar like Lily Morales and recruit them for us!
On a related note, starting March 1 we're going to have a CU campus competition between programs to see which program can log the most miles - if you think your program is the most active one on campus, prove it! We'll be tracking miles by program affiliation and having monthly check ins to see who's making the most miles! We're working on finding prizes (aside from bragging rights) for the folks and programs who make the most miles!
(On a similar note, if you have connections to running/biking/sports shops that may want to sponsor the team or provide incentives for getting us moving, PLEASE let me know ASAP!!)
Yeah yeah, I know...you're only here to see the stats!
Here's the week by the numbers:
In the last 7 days we logged 437 running miles, 434 biking miles, and 25 swimming miles.
We also plowed right through 3000 miles of total activity!!

You guys are inspiring and motivating!! I love it!!
We had a total of 39 people (down 6 from last week) log miles this week, which means 30 of you aren't getting credit for your hard work!! Make sure you're logging all the miles you put in! This DOES include elliptical (running), commuter biking, dog walking, cross-country skiing (running), and water jogging (running)! PLEASE LET ME KNOW if you're having login issues, or if you're trying to log miles and they're not showing up - these are issues I need to report to the Foundation ASAP so they can be fixed!!
Just like last week, PLEASE keep an eye on your miles and make sure they're all accounted for - if you've logged miles and they disappear the next day, THAT'S AN ISSUE and you need to let me know about it!
Also, a friendly reminder that if you've been putting in the miles and finding that you're hitting major personal milestones, I would LOVE for you to post about it on our team blog!
Likewise, if you've been hitting lows or walls, I'd love to see that posted too - we all hit those lows and we all need encouragement to get out of the slump! If you want to contribute, shoot me an email and I'll put you on the list!
Thanks again for an awesome week! You guys are inspiring and motivating and I'm SO PROUD to be working with you!!

Personal Milestones
The last 48 or so hours have been pretty great for me, in terms of running. Yesterday, I ran a race on a course I ran 2 weeks ago (Washington Park), and I managed to shave 40 seconds off my previous time. I also managed to actually *run* the full race. Doesn't seem like much, but it sure seems like I always find an excuse to walk, during every race. It's frustrating because I *know* it's 100% mental.
Bear in mind that I'm terrible at starting/stopping my watch when it actually matters.
Anyway. I ended up 4 seconds shy of breaking 26 minutes, which I feel is totally doable when I run the course again this coming weekend. Here's hoping.
The other milestone that I hit was a pretty big one...
Today, I ran a double digit run, without stopping (except once to look for a water fountain), for the first time. Ever.
I ran track and cross country in high school, but even then the best I think I ever did was maybe 7 miles...and that usually included a stop at the snow cone place across the street somewhere in the middle (sorry coach!)
The real kicker is that I also managed to beat my previous 10k time (1:01something), and aside from some nasty wind for the last 3 miles, it didn't feel awful.
On top of all that, I managed to pull this off outside - I've been doing all my training on a treadmill, so this is kind of a big deal too.
Anyway, just wanted to share the triumph. I'm not fast, but I got it done. There's no way I would have been able to do it without company (thanks, Steph!!), but...I did it!!
What's your big accomplishment this week? How about a little one? What are you working towards? What's your next goal? What have you done recently that you never thought you'd be able to?

I'm not sure what happened with those miles, but if you logged after about 9 PM on Saturday PLEASE double check that your miles are still accounted for!

Week Two Wrap Up
For those on the team, sorry - this is the email I just sent (with a couple of updated numbers since I missed one person's log while I was writing the email...sorry Steph!)
Once again, you guys have been rockstars with logging miles this week! Here are some highlights from the past week:
Nice work!!!!
We had a total of 23 people log miles this week - that means 10 of you aren't getting credit for your hard work!! Make sure you're logging all the miles you put in!
Also, a few FAQs came up this week:
And finally, we're dreaming up ways to make easy team miles during the school week (or work week)! If you have any, let us know!
The first one will be starting soon, on February 4 - Marked Mile Mondays! There's a marked mile on Anschutz campus that we can walk, jog, or run during lunch as a team (or part of a team anyway), to give everyone an automatic mile for the day! If you're not on campus, find your own marked mile and walk/jog/run it!
Thanks again for an awesome week! You guys are inspiring and motivating!

Also, a few FAQs came up this week:
- Yes, walking, hiking, and treadmill workouts count!
- Likewise, Spin also counts! If you don't have a mileage counter on your bike, assume 15 miles per hour of class time.
- The competition is between US schools, but literally anyone can join - even if they're not from the US! If you've got friends/family/coworkers/vague acquaintances that you think would make a good addition to the team, peer pressure them into it!
- A whole lot of people are having login issues. Some solutions have been:
- Using Firefox instead of Chrome
- Making sure to use the Main Login link on the left, instead of the Sign In button on the top right.
- Changing your username so it's an actual username and not a bunch of numbers
- Use facebook or twitter to log in

Did you post miles this week? How'd they go? Any specific moments of triumph? Let us hear about it!
